General Objective
The main objectives of the ASFA are to take care of the interests of national production sectors in general, and the Surinamese Manufacturers in particular in order to promote MADE IN SURINAME.
This care of interest takes place on the basis of a clear contribution to the national economical development of the Republic of Suriname.
The ASFA endeavors to actualize the aims in the way, by means of promotion to guarantee the continuity in the production and the improvement of the use of products made in Suriname.
On the one hand the ASFA gives advice to and on the other hand inquires information from the national Government, and the institutions regarding the industrial development in the national economical issues in particular.
Within the organization of the ASFA, the member-concerns are divided in three categories, namely common members, extraordinary members and honorary members.

Through the structures of the ASFA, the member concerns are classified in the following sectors:

2. Steel and metal construction
3. Forestry, wood and lumber
4. Steel structures
5. Textile and foot-wear
6. Plastic goods
7. Chemicals
8. Graphics and paperwork
9. Metals and minerals
10. Spectacles and artificial teeth
11. Machine and winding industry
12. Concrete industry
The publicity of the ASFA on behalf of the members is done by means of a periodical newsletter of the ASFA
ASFA Board of Members
The ASFA is chaired by the Board of the ASFA, existing of 7(seven) members. The Board is elected every two years, and can be re-elected. In the execution of its tasks, the Board is supported by the coordinators of the different branches and sectors within the ASFA.

The Social Economical participation of the ASFA
1. In the first place the ASFA participates in all deliberation institutions for trade and industies.
2. The ASFA participates in various national advisory and policy councils, such as
a. The Tripartite Council of Suriname
b. The Labour Advisory Council
c. The Deliberation Organ Social Agreement
d. The Advisory working group to review the Investment Policy
e. The Women Workers Council
f. Meditation Council of Surinam
The ASFA does not participate in political institutions
ASFA activities
After the basic information, it is good to bring to your attention that within the scope of the activities of ASFA, together with local experts, an interesting discussion is going on, regarding the contribution on models for solutions to restrain the actual national crisis on various domains of live, such as:

b. The Labour market situation
c. The democracy
d. The national security
e. The inter-human relationship
f. The regional development
g. The industrial development
The ASFA also made a draft of a mainlined plan of action regarding the solution of the national crisis on the basis of opportunities and limitations.
For the development of the above mentioned drafted plan, the ASFA executives and other experts, have created a pragmatic approach, during which the premises are always compared to the rational criteria in which the benefit of the Surinamese People is the central issue.
The first phase in the framework of the mainline-plan of action is a short-term master plan for the production and export improvement of Suriname.
The ASFA has put special emphasis on the choice for the track of the productive investments, by emphasizing modern technology that is elected and meets the requirements of the local skills and abilities. The investment will be used to mobilize the resource-based industries, in order to create products of high economic value for the various export markets.
