What is IDOS

The Institute for Development Oriented Studies (IDOS)was founded in 1986. From 1986 till 1992 the institute focused mainly on consultancy jobs which required knowledge of Social Research Practices.

From 1993 till to date our activities are focused on market research (98% of our business). In Suriname we do market research for:

• TheBritish American Tobacco Company
• ParboBier/Heineken
• SAB/Angostura
• Shell and TexacoInternational
• Coca Cola Ltd
• Occasionally for several local companies such as: Para Springs, Mitra nv., BHP Billiton, DSB-Bank, Fernandez Bakkerij, Assuria, Democracy Unit of the University of Suriname, State Health Insurance, De Ware Tijd, CHM (Cetecogroup 1994-2000).

IDOS also conducts research for some companies mentioned above in Guyana(1998)and as of 2003 in Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao.
We have a staff of 4 Academics and 60 part-time interviewers. All interviewers are older than 21 years of age, with mostly a background in social studies.
